Authentidate Holding Corp.'s Docstar Division Announces New Software To Improve Filing Speed, Accuracy
- Version 3.1 Opens Access To Web-Based Document Viewing, Database Integration - New Program Offers Future Upgrades, Discounts On Optional Software For Annual Fee -
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
August 1, 2002
DocSTAR, a division of Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: ADAT), today announced the latest version of system software for its imaging product line, DocSTAR™ System Software, Version 3.1.
Version 3.1 improves accuracy and speed in electronic filing, while enabling access to more flexible and advanced document viewing and database integration capabilities that will become available in the near future. It also includes new features that further improve data verification and expand the level of automation used in filing documents. It is the first step in an aggressive product plan, which will be followed by a series of upgrades and feature enhancements over the next several months.
With the software, the company also introduced DocSTAR SoftCare, a program that provides rights to future upgrades, as well as Version 3.1, for a single annual fee that represents significant savings compared with the cost of purchasing each upgrade individually. Program participants will also receive discounts on optional software modules that add valuable features such as Web-browser based viewing. Annual pricing for SoftCare plans starts at $855 for DocSTAR Series 3 Systems.
"Data consistency and quality have a big impact on productivity with an imaging system," explains Ira Whitman, chief technology officer. "Our new software improves DocSTAR's 'human interface' for data entry, so that documents can be filed quickly, accurately and painlessly -- without complexity.
"Our SoftCare program also simplifies the upgrade process, so that people don't have to think about keeping their systems current and adding new features."
Improved Data Entry Accuracy and Speed
DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.1 ensures consistent data collection and formatting, and virtually eliminates entry errors that often lead to misplaced information. An enhanced "Zone Verification" capability enforces adherence to pre-defined patterns. For example, the software will check that a Social Security Number is filled in with the specified format and number of digits, comparing the entry to the pattern, "###-##-####".
In addition, the new DocSTAR software includes features that automate data entry and speed the filing process, while maintaining consistency. A "Zone Transformation" capability automatically reformats data based on pre-defined rules. For example, currency signs and commas can be added to numerical entries or dates can be changed from a numerical format such as "7/4/76" to "July 4, 1776."
Version 3.1 also introduces a new zone for document filing. Drop-down menus with a predefined list of entry choices eliminate the need to key in specific data for each document.
Access to New Viewing, Database Integration Capabilities
DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.1 provides access to advanced capabilities, which will be introduced as modules over the course of the next quarter. These include remote document access through a standard Web browser - regardless of location, time or type of Internet connection - and solutions that enable users to integrate their DocSTAR systems with other information databases, as well as third-party business-management applications created for specific industries.
DocSTAR System Software Version 3.1 will be included with all new DocSTAR products. Upgrade plans for previously installed systems are available immediately through authorized DocSTAR Business Partners.
The suggested list price of a DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.1 upgrade starts at $695 for DocSTAR Series 3 Systems; pricing includes upgrade of existing software licenses for client PCs as well.
