New Internet Software Allows DocSTAR Users to Scan, Access Critical Information From Any Location

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
May 13, 2002

DocSTAR, a division of Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: ADAT), today announced new software that enables users of its DocSTAR™ electronic filing systems to scan, file, and retrieve, documents from virtually any location via the Internet or corporate intranets.

The DocSTAR NetConnect Internet connectivity module provides remote access to any host system running DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.0 through high-speed Internet connections, such as DSL and cable broadband services or wide-area networks.

"In a mobile world, people need the ability to scan, file and retrieve critical information from their remote locations," said Ira Whitman, DocSTAR’s chief technology officer. "Our new Internet connectivity module gives DocSTAR users the freedom to move around, unencumbered by paper, while staying fully connected to their businesses."

Simple Work Process, Secure Network Environment

NetConnect provides the same work process and user interface from remote locations as workstations connected directly to DocSTAR host systems through local-area networks. It builds upon DocSTAR’s easy-to-use Windows®-based software that makes scanning, filing, retrieving and viewing documents simple activities. Information passes over the Internet or intranets, transparent to users, without additional steps or complicated intervention.

NetConnect is designed to work with DocSTAR Series 3 Enterprise and Departmental Editions and DocSTAR System Software, Version 3.0. An upgrade path is available for other selected DocSTAR models, including the Series 3 Workgroup and Workgroup Pro Editions. DocSTAR NetConnect was developed with standard Internet software languages and technology to fit seamlessly into secure network environments. Documents can flow smoothly back and forth through virtually all firewalls, routers and gateways.

NetConnect also works with DocSTAR’s exclusive AuthentidateTM technology, which protects documents against unauthorized tampering. Authentidate uses an unalterable secure clock to stamp the date and time into digital documents and also produces a unique mathematical signature. This combination virtually eliminates any possibility of alteration without detection.
