Trusted Content Alliance Provides the Industry’s First Integrated XML-Based Secure Digital Content Management Solution
Solution Can Help Users Meet New Regulatory Requirements and Mitigate Exposure to Legal Risk with Its Complete Authentication Content Life Cycle

NEW YORK, N.Y.
February 20, 2002

Authentidate, Inc., a subsidiary of Authentidate Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: ADAT) and a leading provider of Trusted Content Authentication Services, announced today that Authentidate, Inc., Software AG, Inc., and Lexign, Inc., charter members of the Trusted Content Alliance (TCA), demonstrated at the 2002 RSA Conference the first public showing of the TCA Solution Suite. The TCA Solution Suite is a secure digital content management plafform that delivers a complete solution to capture, route, track, store and integrate auditable digital content and electronic transactions. It is the industry’s only XML-based, integrated solution and can help users mitigate their exposure to legal risks, meet new regulatory requirements, and provide complete authentication throughout the content life cycle.

TCA will demonstrate the solution from February 19-22 at the RSA Conference 2002 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, Calif. at booth #645.

The solution addresses the need among organizations that face new regulatory and legal requirements that are driving a shift toward secure, paperless transactions and guidelines for secure electronic transaction standards. The TCA Solution Suite provides a way to Web-enable secure business transactions and integrates them with enterprise applications.

Early adopters of TCA solution are expected to include:

  • Financial Services Industry — to Web-enable HR/401(k) applications, mortgage processing, auto loan applications, improving operational efficiencies to reduce expenses and increase network reliability.
  • Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Industry — to comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements that are among the several new regulatory schemes driving the need for trusted, secure transactions in these industries.
  • Government Agencies to address, among other things, the new Government Paperwork Elimination Act (GPEA) requirements that are contributing to a drive in government for the Web-enablement of documents.
  • Higher Education Institutions — to comply with new INS requirements and Web-enable signed transactions from a Student Information Systems (SIS) application.
"In essence, the Trusted Content Alliance offers a low impact and cost-effective integrated solution which will allow organizations to reuse their technology, including business-critical legacy systems, all while minimizing the impact to their existing applications," said Lori Williams-Peters, Software AG, Inc.’s Vice President of Sales.

The TCA Solution Suite automatically captures data and forms via the Web, and integrates the data into existing systems through digital content management. As a result, this online processing and authentication allows for fewer manual mistakes and workflow errors. Powerful XML-based technology allows systems to expand and change with application needs and changing market demands.

The combined TCA solution includes:

  • Software AG's Tamino™ XML Server and EntireX® Total Business Integration Server. Tamino’s native XML storage repository can store structured and unstructured documents. EntireX integrates Web applications with packaged, custom- developed or legacy systems with integration up to ten times faster than traditional technology.
  • Lexign’s flagship solution, the Lexign Suite™. The Lexign Suite enables organizations to handle business processes and transactions completely electronically, from inception through signature and archiving.
  • Authentidate adds evidentiary admissibility for data non-refutability to any system, service, or workflow. Based on a centralized and audited source of time, the Authentidate service both signs and timestamps digital content, regardless of type, size, or use.
"The first TCA solution offers a wide range of functionality for trusted e-transactions by providing a full-featured platform, database, and time stamping capabilities," said Andrew Ko, Lexign’s Director of Business Development.

"The Trusted Content Alliance is at the forefront of delivering on the promise of making on-line transactions as safe, auditable and risk free as their paper equivalents, and extending this capability to the transactions and data interchanges for all industry verticals," said Rob Van Naarden, Authentidate’s CEO.
