Authentidate And Kodak Join Forces To Pilot Kodak's United States Postal Service EPM-enabled Secure Email Service
SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
Mar 10, 2005
Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq:ADAT) announced today that Authentidate and Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK) will test the interoperability of the United States Postal Service Electronic Postmark(R) Service (USPS(R) EPM(R)) with Kodak's Secure Email Service (SES).
The two companies will work together to pilot Kodak's Secure Email Service incorporating the USPS Electronic Postmark Service. Backed by the integrity of the United States Postal Service, the EPM detects any alteration of the data. Application of the EPM automatically creates an electronic "fingerprint" of electronic file content, which is then stored in the USPS EPM repository. This allows trusted third-party authentication that verifies a file has not been altered once the EPM has been affixed.
The pilot program, which is being led by Kodak, is expected to include several health care organizations, and is part of a previously announced push by the Kodak Health Group into the healthcare IT market.
"Integrating the USPS Electronic Postmark Service can bring a new level of trust and integrity to our Secure Email Service enabling customers to take full advantage of its speed and simplicity to securely deliver patient data," stated Patrick Faure, Privacy and Security Services Manager for Kodak's Health Group.
"Authentidate is pleased to be working with Kodak on its secure email application," stated Suren Pai, Authentidate's CEO. "This represents an important step for us to apply the Electronic Postmark technology in securing email communications. This alliance exemplifies our solutions-based approach to commercializing the USPS EPM on a broad scale."
