Authentidate International AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: ADAT), announced that T-Mobile, one of the leading international mobile phone networks and a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT), implemented a solution for its electronic, signature-based invoicing business using Authentidate’s digital signature solution.
Using the Authentidate technology, outgoing electronic invoices issued by T-Mobile Germany are provided with qualified, electronic signatures in accordance with the German Digital Signature Act and European Signature Directives. For the first time, this will enable customers to use signed, electronic invoices for prepaid value added tax deduction purposes, without the need to retain additional paper copies of the invoices.
The use of electronic signatures in electronic invoicing processes has been required under German sales tax law ever since January 1, 2002, and is now an obligatory step for any invoice recipient who wishes to utilize prepaid value added tax deduction without having to receive and keep paper invoices.
The Authentidate eBilling signature solution enables invoice issuers and invoice recipients to tap into some real opportunities for significant savings. As well as completely removing the need for the costintensive process of sending out paper invoices, it also allows those invoice recipients, who do not have Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems, to receive invoices electronically, without requiring them to process paper copies of the invoices. These electronic invoices can be made available for automatic data importing, without the need for any additional manual input and, at the same time, they represent an authorized, officially recognized basis for prepaid value added tax deduction.
The Authentidate solution also actively permits the simultaneous signing of invoices in a variety of formats. This allows for the signed transmission of invoices in multiple formats: for example, as a standard PDF file to be viewed by staff, and, simultaneously, as a data record to be processed in the system.
"T-Mobile, one of the largest international mobile phone networks, is now providing its broad customer base with a revolutionary opportunity to significantly optimize their processes for dealing with incoming invoices," explains Jan C. Wendenburg, Chief Executive Officer of Authentidate International AG.
