Authentidate Holding Corp. announced today the formation of the AuthentiDate Advisory Board. The Company's Board of Directors initially approved the establishment of the Advisory Board on October 2, 2003. The Advisory Board will be made up of leaders in the field of security, technology, business and healthcare who will offer the Company guidance, strategy and expertise as it identifies and analyzes new opportunities.
The Advisory Board's four initial members are:
Michael Baum, JD, MBA, CISSP, the former Vice President of Practices and External Affairs for VeriSign, Inc. and Ecommerce author.
Taher Elgamal, Ph.D., founder of Securify and the former Chief Scientist at Netscape Communications and SSL pioneer.
Robert D. Hoover, Jr., MD, MPH, Medical Director, CIGNA Healthcare.
George Parsons, Chairman and CEO of Secorix and a former member of the founding team of VeriSign.

Michael Baum, JD, MBA, CISSP
Michael S. Baum was Vice President of Practices and External Affairs for VeriSign, Inc. His responsibilities included developing and overseeing practices and controls under which VeriSign conducted its public Digital ID and Trust Network operations. He also spearheaded VeriSign's practice consulting and governmental oversight.
Mr. Baum founded and chaired the Information Security Committee, Section of Science and Technology, of the American Bar Association. He also served in various Ecommerce leadership roles for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), including as a delegate to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law on behalf of the ICC. He also served on the Board of the PKI Forum, and as a Commissioner of the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission.
Mr. Baum is co-author of SECURE ELECTRONIC COMMERCE (Prentice Hall, 1st Edition, 1997 and 2nd Edition, 2000), author of FEDERAL CERTIFICATION AUTHORITY LIABILITY AND POLICY - LAW AND POLICY OF CERTIFICATE-BASED PUBLIC KEY AND DIGITAL SIGNATURES (NIST, 1994), co-author of ELECTRONIC CONTRACTING, PUBLISHING AND EDI LAW (Wiley Law Publications, 1991), and contributing author to EDI AND THE LAW (Blenheim Online, 1989), and the author of diverse information security publications including the first American articles on EDI law. He was honored as an EDI Pioneer in 1993 (EDI Forum) and was the Recipient of the National Notary Association's 1995 Achievement Award. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Taher Elgamal, Ph.D.
Dr.Taher Elgamal founded Securify, Inc. after serving as Chief Scientist at Netscape Communications where he pioneered SSL, the standard for web security. Prior to Netscape, Dr. Elgamal was the Director of Engineering at RSA Data Security, Inc. While there, he built and ran the engineering department that developed the RSA cryptographic toolkits, the industry standards for security-enabled applications and systems development.
He received his Masters and PhD degrees in Computer Science from Stanford University. A recognized leader and frequent spokesman in the information security industry, Dr. Elgamal has made numerous, substantial contributions to the industry. These include development of the original public key cryptography and digital signature technology. He invented the Elgamal cryptography technology later adopted by NIST as the digital signature standard (DSS). He also participated in the 'SET' credit card payment protocol, plus a number of Internet payment schemes. In addition to his responsibilities as CTO & Co-Chairman of the Board of Securify, Dr. Elgamal serves on the board of directors of RSA Data Security, Hi/fn, Phoenix Technologies and Valicert.
Robert D. Hoover, Jr., MD, MPH
Dr. Robert D. Hoover, Jr., currently serves as a Medical Director for Cigna Healthcare and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hoover previously served as a Medical Director at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute. From 1994 to 1996, he was in private practice at Baptist Occupational Medicine Centers in Goodlettsville, TN. In addition, he has served as a staff physician at the Nashville Department of Veteran's Affairs Medical Center-Division of Ambulatory Care. Dr. Hoover has a Master's of Public Health degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Medical Degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. He completed both his internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
George Parsons
George Parsons is currently the CEO and Chairman of Secorix which provides solutions in the Security Risk Management (SRM) market. Prior to Secorix, Mr. Parsons was the CEO of RiskWatch, a provider of Risk Assessment products. Previously he was President and Chief Executive Officer of NetReliance and Nanobiz, the latter acquired by VeriSign in 2000.
Mr. Parsons was a founding member of VeriSign where he managed the core engineering team during VeriSign's early years and designed the foundation for VeriSign PKI services. He also built and managed the professional services group at VeriSign. Prior to VeriSign, Mr. Parsons was Director of Certificate Services at RSA where he led the group's operations, sales, and product planning efforts. While at RSA, Mr. Parsons authored VeriSign's business plan. Prior to joining RSA, he held various sales and engineering management positions with Sun Microsystems, Rolm, Plexus and Unisys. Mr. Parsons holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
