More than 500 participants at Europe's largest congress and trade exhibition for electronic signatures
DÜSSELDORF, Germany
February 26, 2008
Electronic signatures have finally come out of their niche existence. Signature solutions are being used increasingly as a standard instrument for process optimization. This trend became apparent at Europe's largest signature conference last Thursday in Düsseldorf.
The organizer, Authentidate International AG, welcomed more than 500 participants there for the third time in succession.
Company representatives from every sector kept themselves up-to-date during the conference lectures and at the accompanying industrial exhibition. As in previous years, the character of the conference was very practice-oriented. Users of a vast number of well-known corporate groups described graphically how they had implemented signature solutions in their own companies.
In this connection, it became clear that the use of signatures for optimizing processes and cutting costs is an absolute necessity for medium-sized companies and corporate groups in particular. According to statements of the experts, the use of signatures is increasing constantly even in international business transactions. In the estimation of current users, companies that want to gain competitive advantages by means of faster processes and to reduce error sources by means of fully automatic processing can no longer ignore the issue of the electronic signature.
At the same time, the distribution of signatures on the market is accelerating due to an ever increasing number of standard preinstalled signature products, e.g. in archive, workflow and DMS systems.
In the field of invoice exchange, connectors are also facilitating the integration of signatures into the process e.g. for ERP systems and service providers. In this way, it can also be converted gradually to electronic invoice exchange.
In live demonstrations, almost 30 national and international providers presented the use of electronic signatures in business processes during the conference breaks. The demonstrations ranged from the signature of invoices e.g. directly from SAP, right up to the legally binding long-term archiving of electronic approval procedures.
In a special eHealth forum, established solutions were presented, such as signatures in mass-document recording and similarly innovative topics as well as the electronic health insurance card and use of signatures in conjunction with EPR (Electronic Patient Records).
