American HomePatient to Deploy Authentidate’s CareFax™ Application to Support Reimbursement Processes
New Application Streamlines Fax-Based Work Flow, Lowers Costs and Enhances Compliance

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.
Dec 07, 2005

Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: ADAT) today announced that American HomePatient, Inc., one of the nation's largest Home Medical Equipment providers, has selected Authentidate’s CareFax(TM) fax application for use in its billing centers. Installation is expected to begin in the first calendar quarter of 2006.

CareFax is a web-based, HIPAA-compliant application that allows enterprises to address cost and compliance issues associated with fax-based document processing in the healthcare sector. While enabling automation of fax-intensive workflows, CareFax also provides for authentication of paper- based content to enhance regulatory compliance and internal controls.

Doug Gouy, Senior Vice President of Revenue Management at American HomePatient, said, "CareFax addresses our strategic goal of lowering the operating costs associated with processing documentation required to support revenue, particularly orders reimbursed by Medicare. CareFax reduces the potential for errors and reprocessing that is typical of fax handling, while allowing us to work seamlessly with physicians' existing processes."

Cleaster Ewing, Senior Vice President for Compliance at American HomePatient, added, "The built-in content authentication and verification capabilities of CareFax enormously benefit compliance procedures generally, and are features currently not provided by any other fax-server solution. These features allow us to improve compliance in a simple and efficient manner."

"We are very pleased that American HomePatient has decided to adopt CareFax," said Suren Pai, President and CEO of Authentidate Holding Corp. "More broadly, the positive market reaction to CareFax validates our strategy of targeting highly regulated industries with applications incorporating the USPS EPM. We are optimistic that the unique solution that CareFax offers healthcare providers, payors and suppliers will help Authentidate stake out a leadership position in the fax authentication space."

About CareFax
Introduced by Authentidate in October 2005, CareFax enables healthcare organizations, such as medical equipment or service providers and insurance payors, to automate the work flow associated with the creation, sending, receiving and handling of faxed documents in a secure and efficient manner. CareFax offers electronic forms management capability to fax senders to minimize data entry errors, while continuing to enable fax recipients to work within their paper-based work flows. The solution also provides for automatic authentication of faxed content and incorporates the USPS(R) Electronic Postmark(R) Service (USPS(R) EPM(R)) to improve the auditability, verification and non-repudiation of the information flow. In combination, these features allow for significant reduction in the cost of adhering to compliance policies and procedures, such as for Medicare and state Medicaid agencies.
